U value measures how quickly heat moves through a material or assembly when there's no solar gain involved. Testing typically simulates conditions with 0 degrees outside, 70 degrees inside, and 15mph winds. A lower U-value means the window resists heat flow more effectively, resulting in better insulation. You can also calculate U-value as the inverse of the R-factor.

Keep in mind that your windows are custom-manufactured to fit precisely into your home's existing openings. Since the detailed work happens at the factory, the installation itself is relatively quick and causes minimal disruption. Most projects are completed in just one to two days. There are several things you can do to help prepare for installation day. If possible, take down any draperies and blinds from the windows we'll be replacing. It's also helpful to move furniture away from the window areas when you're able to do so.
